#7 Hakata Chicken Ramen Washi Packaging

April 12.2016 BY Japanese instant ramen shop owner, Sakura.

What I’m going to introduce today is
a Hakata ramen noodle from Fukuoka - chicken flavour.

Japanese Name: Hakata Ramen Toriaji Washi Package
English Name: Hakata Chicken Ramen Washi Packaging
Product Page : http://jmyths.com/hakata-chicken-ramen-washi-packaging.html

The package has a portable noodle stall printed on the front,
the town of Fukuoka is known for these stalls being found here and there at night.

There are three points that when looking at this product make me want to buy and eat them. Firstly, the name on the package “Hakata ramen noodle” is written in large characters on the front . Hakata is very famous for ramen noodles and we all know they are great. So, when you see the letters Hakata ramen noodle, that is enough to make anyone want to buy them. Secondly is the material of the package. Normally, instant noodles are mostly packed in plastic, but this product is packed with Japanese paper so that is a clear difference from other products and also makes me feel like I would want to try them. Thirdly, the name of the company “TORISHI” is written on the top left. This is not a well known company in Japan, but if you are a fan of ramen noodles, you would know that this company’s products are high in quality and have been loved by people from Kyushu for such a long time. Being loved for a long time proves a delicious taste. That makes you buy this product, doesn’t it?

There are only noodles and soup powder and no dried food and so on contained in the package, the noodle block is not curly deep fried noodles but rather straight noodles.

There’s a tip on how to enjoy the taste at the back of the package. It is recommended that the noodles and soup should be cooked separately: Boil the noodles for approximately two minutes in 500 cc of boiling water. While cooking the noodles, put some soup powder in a bowl and pour 250cc of hot water in.Add the boiled noodles in the bowl and it’s complete.

I’ve added some pork slices, Wakame seaweed and chopped up spring onions.Look at the steam coming out from the noodles, they look hot and delicious. The soup has no color as you can see, the noodles are a little skinny and the taste is relatively light. The soup contains some extracted pork and chicken, the taste of the soup is chicken flavor, but it’s different to the chicken stock in America and European countries.Plus, it has a slight soy sauce taste in the chicken flavor. Why not have a go once!.

(Note: I know some people just pour hot water in the package and eat.. However, this product’s package is made of paper, so please do not do that with this product.)

This ramen is from Fukuoka, Japan.
The package is very simple, with no pictures
and the words "Tonkotsu ramen" written in Japanese.
I can see the noodles, so I could figure out what this product is even if I could not read Japanese.
The reason why I chose this ramen is that I feel like having Fukuoka tonkotsu, and the simple packaging is attractive to me.

It includes noodles and liquid soup.
For this ramen, it is better to cook noodles and soup separately.

I added the toppings: white onions, Chashu, a ramen egg, cabbage, and some red picked ginger. These are my usual toppings for tonkotsu ramen.

This noodles taste like a Japanese noodles, Somen.

This ramen is lower calories than other ramen noodles. It’s about 293calories without any toppings. It was good ramen for the last bite of the evening.

Ramen shop in Osaka,Mitsuboshi noodle making factory

April 6.2016 BY Japanese instant ramen shop owner, Sakura.

I went to a ramen shop for lunch today.

I was out of office and had a lunch on the way back.

The ramen I had was Wafu ramen.
It’s made by blending sardine, skipjack, mackerel,
or kelp stock with a thick pork-bone soup in the perfect proportions
to make a delightfully smooth “double-soup” or blended broth.
It has no fishy smell, and so it is a flavor that anyone and everyone can enjoy.

Today's ramen from Hokkaido.

Ramen life #3Jigoku-Dani Extreme Salt Ramen

#3Jigoku-Dani Extreme Salt Ramen

April 4.2016 BY Japanese instant ramen shop owner,Sakura.

Let me introduce
"Hokkaido Noboribetsu Shio ramen" today.

This is Shio ramen from Noboribetsu, Hokkaido.
Japanese Name:Jigoku-Dani no Gekiuma Shio Ramen
English Name: Jigoku-Dani Extreme Salt Ramen
Product Page:

This is the one with packaging that my friend in France likes.
It doesn't look like ramen noodles, but it's ramen!

Noboribetsu is the site of a hot spring in Hokkaido
which is famous for an explosion of the Mt Kuttara crater.
Legend has it that the Great King Yama, Emma, came to Noboribetsu with ogres.
Because of this, there are many products with ogre motifs. This is one of them.
"I went to Noboribetsu" is written on the ramen package.
Japanese know that Noboribetsu is in Hokkaido.
People know that ramen in Hokkaido is delicious.
This is a big deciding factor when people choose one instant ramen from many other ramens.
Of course, the ogre face is a big point as well.

It includes two types of soup (liquid and salt) and fried noodles.
It's on the tray to protect the ramen noodles.

Cooking instructions for this instant ramen are on the back of the package.
Boil the noodles for 3 minutes in 600cc of boiling water.

I put ramen noodle into a very hot stone bowl to mix with Noboribetsu jigokudani.
This ramen is a well-balanced taste that spreads in the mouth.
If you like Pho, which are Vietnamese noodles, I would recommend this!

The soup includes pork and chicken extract.

Cooking instructions for this instant ramen are on the back of the package.
Boil the noodles for 90 seconds in 500ml of boiling water.
Here is You tube how I cooked.

On the back of the package, they recommended adding toppings such as Chashu, red picked ginger, Nori seaweed. I added Chashu, chopped green onion, and a ramen egg.
